From the cabinet

Every pet catalogued, every flaw named.

One collector, one cabinet

Littlest Milk Shop is a one-person shop run by a collector who grew up with these pets and never quite stopped arranging them. Everything listed here passed through the same hands: sourced, cleaned, photographed, and catalogued one at a time.

Sourced

An open, worn cardboard box lined with tissue on a linen table, with empty glassine bags, a spool of twine and a blank card beside it

illustration

Estate lots, collection buyouts, and patient secondhand archaeology. Whole collections are bought when the pets deserve it; single grails arrive when they surface. Every arrival is checked against its mold stamp before it earns a listing — anything unverifiable is listed as unbranded and priced like it. (how we verify)

Cleaned

A dish of soap flakes, a soft wooden brush, cotton swabs in a milk-glass cup and a folded linen towel on a table by a window

illustration

Mild soap, soft brush, cotton swabs, patience. No solvents, no magic erasers near paint or decals, no repaints, no resale “restoration” — a pet leaves here in the condition its listing describes, not improved into a lie. The cabinet is kept smoke-free.

Photographed

Black velvet draped over a small riser on a linen table, a grey card and a folded cloth beside it, under one soft light

illustration

True color, consistent light, no filters on product photos, ever. Anything not graded mint carries a dedicated flaw photo, and the underside stamp is photographed on every pet sold as authentic. If a listing photo and your doorstep pet disagree, that is a return. (the policy)

Some listings still carry the shop’s earlier photographs, taken on black velvet and set on the shop’s own backdrop digitally, with the shadow where the pet’s feet meet it reconstructed from the pet’s own outline. Nothing on the pet was retouched in those either, each pet that still has one says so on its own page, and they are being replaced one pet at a time with photographs taken on the set.

Graded

A brass jeweller's loupe, a small stack of blank cream cards with gilt borders and a capped pen on linen beside a lace edge

illustration

Four grades, used the same way on every listing. The grade sits beside the price; the flaws behind it are named in prose and photographed. (the scale)

The still-lifes on this page are illustrations of the work, not photographs of it; the pets themselves are always photographed.
